What is autofill, and how does it work?

Introduction

Autofill is a powerful feature that fills out your credentials in online forms. Instead of typing your information into each box yourself, the NordPass password manager allows you to choose which form fields to autofill.

Before you start

Currently, autofill works on:

  • Mobile applications
  • Web browsers on mobile devices (iOS, Android)
  • Web browsers on Desktop devices (Windows, macOS, Linux)

Autofill does not work on:

  • Desktop Applications (for example: video games)

Fills the forms on allows you to fill mobile applications and websites, but it is not available for desktop (iOS, Windows, Linux, etc.) applications.

Here’s what happens

When you have logins saved in your NordPass vault, NordPass icons will appear in the login fields. After clicking on them and selecting the login, the login fields will autofill with your credentials.

To use the NordPass autofill feature on your mobile device, we recommend changing the primary password manager settings. For detailed information on how to do this, please visit our guides for iOS and Android.

If you want to use autofill with web browsers on your desktop devices, you need to download the NordPass browser extensions. At the moment, NordPass supports the following browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Edge, and Brave.
