Forgot your NordPass Master password and no recovery code?

Problem

If you've forgotten or haven't saved your recovery code and master password used to access your NordPass account, you'll need to reset your recovery code via biometrics—either with a face or fingerprint scan.

Common symptoms

  • When you try to log in with your master password, you get the error message “Incorrect Master password. Please double-check and try again.”

Troubleshooting

  1. Log in to your NordPass application. When biometrics are enabled, you can log in without entering your Master Password.

Note: Biometric unlock is available for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS applications and the NordPass browser extension.

  2. Click the "settings" button located on the upper-left side.
  3. Scroll down to the security section and click on the "reset recovery code" button.
  4. Next, click the "reset" button.
  5. Confirm your identity with your biometrics. Afterward, you will receive your new recovery code. Click on the "done" button to save the changes.

Additional Tips

  • We recommend downloading your recovery code as a PDF and storing it in a secure location that only you can access, such as a private cloud folder, to ensure you can retrieve it anytime.
  • If you can't remember your master password or recovery code and do not have biometrics enabled, please follow our guide on how to reset the NordPass account.
