How to organize CSV file for import to NordPass

NordPass offers an easy way to import your passwords from other password managers using a CSV file or by manually creating a CSV file and importing it to NordPass. However, before proceeding with the import, you may need to format the CSV file correctly. This guide will outline how to organize your CSV file to match NordPass import formatting and how to import the CSV file to NordPass.

How to format the CSV file

Formatting the CSV file correctly is important to guarantee that the information is organized in a way that is supported by NordPass. If you plan to store any more personal information within NordPass, you may also add it to the same CSV file. To do this, you'll need a tool capable of opening and editing CSV files, such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

Simply put, the following steps on how to edit and import the CSV file to NordPass are:

  1. Create an item with the desired custom field in an Excel file. The personal information, as well as any additional personal information that may be inserted in the CSV file as separate columns, should use the following format, which is accepted by NordPass:

Alternatively, instead of manually creating the CSV file, you may download a NordPass CSV file template (at the bottom of this page), fill in your information, and then import it back to NordPass.

  2. Export the file in CSV format:

  3. Edit CSV in Google Sheets, Apple Numbers, or Excel. Please also remember to remove any irrelevant information from the file, as the import to NordPass will not function properly.

  4. Delete unnecessary vault items in the NordPass app if there are any.

After creating the correctly formatted CSV file, can continue to import it into the NordPass app.
