Introduction
This guide will explain how to link an organization to be managed by MSP and unlink the managed organization from MSP.
Before you start
An organization can be linked or unlinked to an MSP if:
- There’s at least 1 active Owner who can log in to the Business Admin Panel
- MSP has an active NordPass MSP account
- The organization’s tier is mapped:
- Teams - Business
- Business - Business
- Enterprise - Enterprise
Here’s what to do
How to link the organization to MSP
- Log in to https://panel.nordpass.com/login as the organization's Owner.
- Click on the “Billings” button, located at the bottom-left side.
- Next, click on the “Link organization to MSP” button, located at the bottom.
- Enter the email address of the MSP you wish to transfer your organization’s management to and select the “Link to MSP” button.
- Afterward, a one-time 32-character code will be generated, click on the ”Download and Close” button, and give it to the MSP.
- Pending requests will be shown in the “Link organization to MSP” section and will be valid for 48 hours.
- Once the MSP Owner or Admin logs in to the MSP panel and accepts the linking request, a pop-up window will appear, MSP will enter the 32-character code received from the organization’s Owner.
- After the successful transfer, MSP will fully manage the organization’s billings, users, settings, and other. MSP will be billed for this organization starting from the month of the transfer - automatic prorations are not offered.
How to unlink the organization from MSP
MSPs can unlink a managed organization, allowing it to become a direct NordPass client. Upon unlinking, the MSP will lose all administrative access to the organization's panel, members, and settings. The organization's licenses will also be removed from the MSP's monthly bill. The organization will then need to purchase its own subscription directly from NordPass.
Importantly, this process only affects management access and billing. All user vault content, settings, and sharing permissions will remain unchanged.
If you wish to unlink the organization, follow these steps:
- Log in to the MSP panel, click on the “Organizations” button located on the left side.
Note: Make sure that at least one user in the organization will take over the organization’s management and has the Owner role.
- Next, locate the organization that you wish to unlink and press the “Three-dots” button, located on the right side of the organization’s name.
- Select the “Unlink from MSP” option.
Note: This action is only available if the organization has at least one user with the Owner role who can access https://panel.nordpass.com/login. Please make sure organization Owners can log in to the organization's admin panel before proceeding, in order to avoid locking themselves out of your organization.
- Verify your decision by selecting the “Confirm” button.
- Afterward, the organization will be immediately unlinked from MSP, and all MSP members will instantly lose access to the organization.
Note: When an organization is unlinked, it will maintain its current service tier and begin a 14-day free trial. If a new subscription isn't purchased within this period, services will be automatically suspended.
How to transfer an organization from one MSP to another
In order to transfer the MSP-managed organization to another MSP, the organization needs to be unlinked from the managing MSP. Then the organization's Owner needs to request joining a new MSP.
