Adding the NordPass browser extension

The browser extension is necessary for the NordPass autofill feature to work on your desktop device.

To add the extension, follow these steps.

 

  1. Open the application, go to Settings, scroll down a bit, and under the Autofill and Autosave section select Add Browser Extension.

  2. This will open a new window where you can choose the browser to add the extension.

    Google Chrome
    1. Open Chrome and find the NordPass extension in the Chrome web store. 

    2. Click Add to Chrome.

    3. A pairing code will appear in the new window and a NordPass pop-up asking to confirm the pairing. Check if the code matches and click Confirm button.

    4. If you do not see a pop-up, open the Extensions menu by clicking the puzzle piece icon next to the address bar and open the NordPass extension. Here you can also pin the NordPass extension to easier access NordPass.

    Microsoft Edge

    1. Open Edge and find the NordPass extension in the Chrome web store. 

    2. Click Allow extensions from other stores.

      If you do not see this option at the top, type in edge://extensions/ in the address bar or go to your browser's Settings > Extensions. Toggle Allow extensions from other stores button at the bottom left corner.

    3. Go back to Chrome Web Store and select Add to Chrome.

    4. A pairing code will appear in the new window and a NordPass pop-up asking to confirm the pairing. Check if the code matches and click Confirm button.

    5. If you do not see a pop-up, open the Extensions menu by clicking the puzzle piece icon next to the address bar and open the NordPass extension. Here you can also pin the NordPass extension to easier access NordPass.

    Mozilla Firefox

    1. Open Firefox and find the NordPass extension on the Firefox add-ons page. 

    2. Click Add to Firefox.

    3. A pairing code will appear in the new window and a NordPass pop-up asking to confirm the pairing. Check if the code matches and click Confirm button.

    Brave, Opera, and other Chromium-based browsers

    1. Open your browser and find the NordPass extension in the Chrome web store. 

    2. Click Add to Chrome.

    3. A pairing code will appear in the new window and a NordPass pop-up asking to confirm the pairing. Check if the code matches and click Confirm button.

  • Add to Google Chrome, Opera, Vivaldi:

    • A pop-up Add NordPass Password Manager & Digital Vault? will appear. Click Add extension.

    • Once you get a Pop-Up, check if the numbers shown in the Pop-up and in the Browser are matching, and press Confirm;

    Add to Brave:

    • A pop-up asking to add NordPass will appear. Click on Add extension.

    • Once you get a Pop-Up, check if the numbers shown in the Pop-up and in the Browser are matching, and press Confirm;

    Add to Mozilla Firefox:

    • When the pop-up Add NordPass Password Manager & Digital Vault? appears, click Add.

    • Once you get a Pop-Up, check if the numbers shown in the Pop-up and in the Browser are matching, and press Confirm;

    Add to Opera:

    • Opera Browser supports adding Chrome extensions, so you might check the Google Chrome extension adding steps at the top of this page.

    Add to Microsoft Edge:

    *Before adding the extension to your Edge browser, make sure that it's updated. You can update your Edge browser here.

    • If you do not see such an option, then, go to your browser's settings > Extensions.

    • There, the option to enable adding extensions from other stores will be in the bottom left corner.

    • Add the extension by selecting Add to Chrome in the Chrome Web Store.

    • You will be asked if you wish to add NordPass to Microsoft Edge. Click Add extension.

    • Once you get a Pop-Up, check if the numbers shown in the Pop-up and in the Browser are matching, and press Confirm;

  • Add to Google Chrome, Vivaldi:

    • A pop-up Add NordPass Password Manager & Digital Vault? will appear. Click Add extension.

    • Enter the 4-digit code to connect extension to the application.

    Add to Brave:

    • A pop-up asking to add NordPass will appear. Click on Add extension.

    Add to Mozilla Firefox:

    • *Alternatively, if you reinstall the desktop app, you might be required to go through these steps to sync the extension with the app:

    • Run the command: snap connect nordpass:password-manager-service in the terminal.

    • After the command is entered, you will also be asked for your device's password.

    • Once done, click I have done it button.
