How to set up the Autolock feature

Introduction

This guide will show you how to set up the NordPass Autolock feature on your devices.

Before you start

• Available only if the decryption method is Master Password or Login with biometrics.
• Sets the maximum time NordPass can stay unlocked while inactive. Users can choose shorter timeframes, but not longer.
• When the user is inactive for the configured time, the Vault locks. To unlock again, the user enters their Master Password or uses biometrics (depending on the Decryption method).
• If the value is Never, NordPass locks when:
  • The browser closes,
  • The device restarts, or the user locks it manually.
  • Never is only available when the Decryption method is set to “Master Password”.

How to set up the Autolock feature on desktop devices

1. Log in to your NordPass desktop application or browser extension.
2. Click the "Cog icon" in the upper-left corner.
3. Next, locate the "Autolock" feature and, using the drop-down menu, select the time period you want the NordPass Vault to automatically lock.

How to set up the Autolock feature on mobile devices

1. Log in to your NordPass mobile application.
2. Tap the "Profile" button in the lower-right corner.
3. Next, select the "Settings" button.
4. Scroll down and tap on the "Autolock" button. 
5. Then, select the time you want the NordPass Vault to lock automatically from the drop-down list.

Additional tips

• If you are a business user, please note that you cannot set the Autolock timer to a duration longer than what your organization has established.
