How to disable the Chrome password manager on Desktop?

Introduction

In this article, we will learn how to disable the Chrome password manager.

While NordPass will work right from the moment the extension is installed, if there are any passwords saved in the native Chrome password manager, those passwords will still be suggested.

Here's what to do

1. Open the Chrome browser.
2. Press on the three dots at the top right corner:
   
   
    
3. Select “Settings”.
4. Go to the “Autofill and passwords” section.
5. Click “Google Password Manager”
6. On the left, select “Settings”.
7. Disable the “Offer to save passwords and passkeys” option.
   
   Note: Typically, once the NordPass extension is installed, this setting will be disabled.

Additional tips

• You can follow this guide to export passwords from Chrome.
• Delete your passwords from Chrome once they are imported to NordPass.
