How to deploy NordPass extension through Microsoft Intune

NordPass extension deployment for Chrome and Edge browsers

Using Microsoft Intune to deploy the NordPass extension to Chrome and Edge browsers across your organization in order to manage passwords offers a smooth and consistent experience for users keeping the overall security in mind. 

In order to deploy NordPass extensions for Chrome or Edge browsers across your organization with Microsoft Intune, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Intune Admin Center and go to the devices tab, located in the upper-left panel:

  2. Select the configuration button under the manage devices section:

  3. Next, click the create button and choose the new policy button:

  4. In the opened tab, click on the platform button, and choose - Windows 10 and later. After that, click on the profile type button, select the settings catalog option, and press the create button.

  5. Once a new window opens, provide the name for your profile in the name field, and press the next button:

    Note: we suggest specifying the browser's name in the name field.

  6. After creating a profile, click on the add settings button:

  7. Next, follow specific steps for your chosen browser:
    • If you are using a Chrome browser, in the category list, select the Google button, then press Google Chrome and select the extension button. Next, select the configure the list of force-installed apps and extensions button:

    • If you are using a Microsoft Edge browser, in the category list, select Microsoft Edge and press the extension button. Afterward, select the control which extensions are installed silently button:

  8. After adding the setting, enable it by pressing the toggle button:

  9. Next, enter the eiaeiblijfjekdanodkjadfinkhbfgcd;https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx line into the specified field and press the next button:

  10.  Next, the scope tags tab will open. Press the next button, as nothing needs to be changed.

  11. Now press the add all devices button and select the next button to proceed forward:

  12. Lastly, review the information and press the create button:

  13. The new policy will be displayed in the configuration section under the policies view. After it is done, the NordPass extension will be deployed to all managed devices' Chrome and Edge browsers.

NordPass extension deployment for the Firefox browser

With NordPass and Microsoft Intune, securely managing passwords in Firefox is easy. By deploying the NordPass extension for Firefox, organizations can ensure consistent password protection, streamline security efforts, and provide users with a hassle-free experience—all through centralized management via Intune.

To deploy NordPass extensions for the Firefox browser across your organization using Microsoft Intune, follow these steps:

  1. Download the Firefox ADMX template from the Github website.
  2. After downloading the ADMX template, open the Intune admin center and select the devices tab, located on the upper-left side:

  3. Select Windows and then the configuration buttons:

  4. Afterward, press the import ADMX button and select import:

  5. In the opened window, upload ADMX and ADML files. For example, upload mozilla.amdx and mozilla.adml files and press the next button to save them. If you wish to add additional languages you will have to repeat these steps.

    Note: upload both files with mozilla.admx and firefox.admx names

  6. In the following tab, review the information and click on the create button.
  7. Then, press the create button and choose the new policy:

  8. In the opened tab, select the platform button and choose Windows 10 and later. Then, click on the profile type button, select the templates, and pick the imported administrative templates (preview) option. Next press the create button

  9. Provide the name for the profile in the name field and click on the next button:

    Note: we suggest specifying the browser's name in the name field.

  10. Click on the Mozilla, select Firefox, extensions, and extensions to install buttons:

  11. In the opened window, click on the enable button, and in the text field, enter https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/latest/nordpass-password-management/latest.xpi:

  12. Click on the OK button:

  13. Once the scope tags tab opens, press the next button as nothing needs to be changed.
  14. Next, press the add all devices, and then the next buttons:

  15. After reviewing the information, click the create button:

  16. The new policy will be displayed in the configuration section under the policies view. After it is done, the NordPass extension will be deployed to all managed devices' Firefox browsers.
